PEOPLE never let the facts get in the way of an entrenched attitude. That's why surveys of investor intentions continue to show consumers are fixated on the big cities and coast. They persist with inferior strategies because they're poorly informed.
My analysis of the latest data from the Real Estate Institute of Queensland shows how costly this can be. The research shows the shortest path to superior capital growth during the past five years has been found outside southeast Queensland (Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast) and well away from the coastline.
